It would be great to have the ability to view your form before actually hitting the submit button?

Reminders delivery
Hi,
By now reminder send invitation e-mail to people who have not completed a survey, i.e. even to people who have partially answered a survey (I have tested it in detail on a test survey, after several respondents complain).
I suggest that either 1/ you let the choice sending reminder to people who have not completed, or to people who have not starded, or 2/ that you change the rule to only send reminder to people who have not started.
It's a communication issue, for people who have started, but not completed, did so for peronal reasons (or forget to clic on end button), and are not very happy to receive a reminder.
Friendly
François

Adding "Not Applicable" Option to Rating Scales
On the multiple choice, you have the option to select a box to show "other" as an option. It would also be useful for the rating scales to display an option for using "not applicable." This would be easier than adding the text manually and then having to adjust the report settings to filter out the "not applicable" so it doesn't appear as a higher rating than "strongly agree."

Ability to send to any address
I would like to be able to send a quick report to various individuals - not just those that have access to the tool - and sometimes to two or three individuals. I would like to be able to enter in any email address and have it generate and send the report to that person.

Multiple invitations e-mail attached to a specific survey
I would like to be able to manage several invitations e-mail for a specific survey. It would be useful in these cases for example :
1/ I've got different kinds of populations to survey : one kind we know very well, another kind of CEOs, another of people we don't know well. Each kind needs a specific e-mail to invite them properly to look at the survey and to complete it.
2/ I want to send a different invitation e-mail to remind the non-respondents. And to complicate the process, I'll have to launch reminder before a second wave of the survey (corresponding to a second sample).
3/ etc.
To do this, by now, I have to modify e-mail invitation at each time I send an invitation. So I copy/paste in an editor to keep it. Not very practical, and source of errors. An extension of this suggestion would be to manage models (templates) of invitations in a library (as for surveys and questions).

Font Size
After creating the survey, we realized that the default font size was quite small. We then had to change the font size for EACH question. It would be great if there was an option to change font size for the SURVEY without having to change each question.

Survey Dropdown Box
In the top right corner of QP the current survey you are working with is displayed as you navigate through the various features - often I have to perform the same task (reports, send reminders, etc) with several surveys at the same sitting. Could the current view of just the name of the current survey be modified to a dropdown box of active surveys?

Extraction to Columns
Currently when we set up Extraction from a question to a Matrix type question the Extracted options show up on the Rows (Left hand side) side.

It would be cool to have Extraction to Columns as well. Many times we need extracted options as Columns and not as Rows.

To know what Extraction is, please visit:

Arranging Folders Alphabetically
Currently folders are being arranged by date. It would be nice to have an option to arrange folders alphabetically. It would be best to have both the options... So either arrange the folders based on time or alphabetically.

Also it would be nice to make folders collapsible. So if all folders have numerous surveys then managing/accessing surveys becomes difficult. Collapsible folders will help here....

Grouping/Segmentation filters
Because you have a limit of 10 groups when using the grouping/segmentation filtering function, we're forced to delete filters if we surpass this benchmark. It would be more efficient if we could keep all filters that we create and just activate/inactivate them as we broach/surpass the 10 group limit.

Open ended responses
Staying with open-ended responses - is their of getting breakdown report of what was said - currently to analyze the data I need to copy into excel - sort alphabetically and then group according to similarities....Can something be done to make this easier?

Maybe a system where I can input the categories of responses and the software can assign statements based on keywords or phrases?

Thanks,
Kevin

Allow user to change the answer width on a multipoint scales/text input question
Before the recent upgrade of the survey design interface, the QuestionPro user was able to change the width of a text input ANSWER for a multipoint scales question.

I used this feature in several surveys before the upgrade. It is still an option presented to the user. However, changing the answer width modifies the question width instead of the answer width.

This is a feature I very much need returned to the survey design process.

THE REPORT SCHEDULER and the SEND TAB
The report scheduler is great, but it doesn't let me schedule reports from the SEND area. Specifically, I need a daily report from the delivery report on a particular mailing list on who is still pending to take the survey, and another report on who has completed.
The ability to cc: as needed in the report scheduler would also be helpful as generally I am ccing: 5-6 people each time I send it out. Being able to add a text message in the email body, perhaps with automated field tags would be great too. Example:

Custom text --> "This is today's report on the surveys still pending to complete. Please see the attached file."

Today's total number of Completes:{Completed#Here}
Still Pending: {Pends#Here}
Bounces: {Bounces#Here}
Unsubscribes: {Unsubs#Here}

(Thanks for listening and I would be interested to see if anyone else needs this besides me!)

Custom Scoring
It would be very helpful to have the ability to develop custom scoring for surveys in the corporate and enterprise editions. I understand that it can be developed using custom scripting (with a price), but it would be absolutely helpful if it became a point and click option. We are getting numerous requests to develop scored surveys for our internal clients and I would like to be able to meet their specific needs better.
Moderator Comments
A point and click interface for scoring will be great! following are some common requirements:

--> Provide Scoring Capability for all Select type quesitons (Single/Multiple, Matrix)
--> Ability to add/subtract from the score. And scoring in decimals also
--> Save score with individual responses to the DB...
--> Scoring for sections within a Survey and total Score for all sections
--> Display reports based on the score.. allow all logic operators.. (=, <, >, <=, >=) so Score <= 45 or like that... Usually the report is some text like: your score indicates that your apptitude is high, etc... There should be Graphs/Charts comparing to average score...

Single Signon for IdeaScale portal
What options do we have for single sign on (SSO)? We will be linking to this from our web application where folks will already be signed in (and under SSL) -- Can we have an integration option for Single Signon.

If we can enable SSO, then can we eliminate the header tabs: Awards, About Us, My Account?

Jason Eckenroth, Six88 Solutions, Inc was inquiring about this.
Moderator Comments
We are thinking about SSO using SAML. This is however in alpha and most likely not be released with the public beta launch in the next couple of weeks -- unless of course we get ton of users asking for this same feature!

We are currently testing SSO with our own IdeaScale portal (questionpro.ideascale.com) -- if you notice, the authentication is done by QuestionPro, and then redirected to ideascale. This is something custom we developed for ourselves (but it does use SAML) -- so -- we should be able to expose this API out so that authentication can be done by another external site.

If you have SSO needs, please comment on this topic on what technology you are using currently for SSO and if you are familiar with SAML etc.

Blog Integration (MetaWebLog API) - Post Updates to a Blog
We are also working on a blog integration.

The idea would be to use the API to post "This Week In IdeaScale" posts every week into your blog -- this way you drive information out and encourage to participate in the ideascale.

This way, users who are subscribed to the blog get weekly updates on what is going on in the IdeaScale on a weekly basis.

"Close Survey" button option
From a Usability standpoint, it would be nice to have the ability to provide a "close window" button (for the "thank you" page, rather than respondants having to close the window by X-ing out.

Reminders
Reminders are sent to non respondents of a survey on the basis of the email list created. If some people do not have access to their email (out of office) and decide to complete the survey by using the internet link, they will receive a reminder to take the survey but they will already have taken it !
I would suggest to be able to remove some addresses from the email list before sending reminders.

Eliminate the extra spacing in the printout for forms that have branching
Whenever you print a form that has branching, there's all this extra spacing, a major gap that interferes with viewing all the questions you answered. So let's say I answer Q.1-6 then because of branching I then jump to Q.12, then to Q36, then what I get is, an extra 3 or 4 pages in between.

Adjusting the Text Box Size in a spreadsheet response
I may not have figured out how to do this properly. But it appears that there is no setting to adjust the width of the text boxes in a spreadsheet question. This is doable for other questions by adjusting the Answer Width. But in the spreadsheet question it does not have the same effect. Instead of widening the boxes, it simply spaces out the columns more. This is useful, but it would be even better if the boxes could be widened as well. In the question I am dealing with, I would like people to enter vehicle information, which requires a little more space than what is normally required for a typical number.

Advanced Meta Analysis for Validation Errors
In a survey with multiple questions with validation, I am seeing a significant number of validation errors. If there was a Meta Analysis tool for validation errors similar to the drop out Meta Analysis, I could dive into and determine which questions are causing the errors and focus on fixing those versus trying to guess.

Validation error messages
I have a couple suggestion regarding the validation error messages:
1) When enabling validation on a per question basis, I've noticed that the default error message for a multiple choice question which requires only one response is "please choose at least one answer." I think this is confusing for respondents as in a case like this, we only want them to choose a single answer, not more than one.
2) I have a few questions in my survey that are followed by open-ended text comment boxes. QuestionPro counts each one of these comment boxes as a question (even though I don't) so that any validation error messages that pop up on questions that follow do not reference the correct question number. Very confusing for any respondent who uses the validation error hyperlinks at the top of the page to access the questions for which they're missing responses.

Extracting selected as well as not selected options for follow up questions
Consider the following scenario:

1. Which brands do you current use?
* A
* B
* C
* D

2. You said you use the following brands? (extract from Q.1) Which one do you like best?
* A
* C

3. You said you do not use the following brands. (extract from Q.1) If we dropped the price by 50%, which would you start using?

* B
* D

Currently we can only do forward (Selected options) or Reverse (Not Selected options) extraction on a Question. Will it be possible to do both simultaneously? It would help a lot!

Extraction Limit
In a Multiselect (Check all that Apply) or a Matrix question respondents can be subsequently asked more about the options they selected. This can be set up using Extraction. There are some scenarios where respondents can select numerous options and the Survey becomes lengthy.

Can limit be set up on Extraction so that randomly only N out of the M selected options are extracted?

Customized User Homepage/Dashboard for Question Pro
I find myself typically using the same features over and over - and having to click through several levels of menus to get there. If it was possible to build a customizable dashboard where users could put QP links that were important to them or used frequently it would certainlty save a lot of time.

Spreadsheet Branching
Spreadsheet questions do not allow branching of any kind. I understand that developing branching rules off answers that are totally random and unstructured is difficult and subject to a lot of problems. But what would be easier and useful would be to have at least a "No Branching" option for the spreadsheet question. I may filter out a person that I want to ask a special spreadsheet question to, and then I might want to direct anyone who answers that question to some other place, regardless of what they put. In other words, a previous question classifies them, I get the special information that I want from the spreadsheet question, and because they have already been classified, I want to direct them to some other position. Currently, this appears not to be possible.

Static list of "My Surveys" on sidebar to
Updating/altering 2+ surveys in a sitting is arduous --

how about offering a static survey link to the surveys one has developed in the sidebar....allowing one to access the same page (task) for each individual survey during the same sitting....eliminating a need for clicks on several tabs and links to make modifications/updates?

Example: 3 surveys....1 developer.... question/response modification needed....developer accesses one page in one of the surveys and modification is made....click on sidebar link to access the same page for modification in each different survey.

Allow idea integration from 3rd party case tracking systems
Its common for companies to track new features in existing case tracking tools like Agility, Jira, Trac or others. Most of these have an API into them.

It would be nice to be able to integrate a ideascale instance into an exising case tool such that all the cases are still stored in only one location but the idea scale system manages the voting and commenting.

No Red Star Option
In many programs I have used, the red star associated with required questions is repeatedly criticized by pre-testers as an unattractive way to represent such questions. Personally, I think it is appropriate in some cases, such as collecting form information like addresses and zipcodes. But for more involved questionnaires others have told me that it is a distraction. It would be useful to have a global option where questions that are required do not have to show a red star. Even better would be to allow people to choose the color and type of indicating character they would like, including no character at all.
